It was a low for organisers of the Nakuru ASK Show as those who went to the grounds Nakuru residents have complained of lack of toilets during the week-long event.

Showgoers hit out at the management claiming that the toilets were of poor quality and were on the verge of collapsing.

Some, they argued, had not been cleaned since last year.

“The toilets were dirty and were on the verge of collapsing. They were also made of rusted iron sheets and were full of maggots. We only used them because we did not have other options,” said Emily Wambui, a showgoer.

She pointed out that the toilets were next to the children’s park which hosted more than 1,000 children daily.

Joseph Kamau, another showgoer raised concerns that the children would contract waterborne diseases.

“The same public health officers who come to our houses claiming that we need to clean up our plots could not ensure that our children and the general public do not get sick,” he added

Public Health Officer Daniel Mwangi however claimed that there were enough toilets to cater for the showgoers.

“We have eight toilets that we built near the arena three years ago. We have managed to keep them clean and they were ready for use by the people involved,” he said.
