Residents of Kisumu Ndogo, Manyani and Makaburi in Nakuru have praised the county government for installing solar floodlights in the area saying the move will curb insecurity.
They said since the installation of the lights, cases of people being attacked have drastically reduced.
They said traders can now operate their business until late in the evening.
Emelda Onyango, a waiter in Nakuru town said the area is a bit secure following the installation of the lights.
“Nowadays I can walk unlike before when I could come from town and be forced to board a bodaboda just 100 meters from my house because the area was very dark,” she said.
William Maina hailed the move but urged the county government to ensure the lights are not vandalized by criminals.
He advised the county government officials to conduct patrols to keep off vandals from destroying the lights.
"Unless they conduct patrols, the lights will be destroyed by thugs so as to continue with their activities," said Maina.
