Residents from a number of Kisumu estates are praising the ongoing operation to flush out criminal gangs.
Residents of Obunga, Nyawitta, Nyamasaria and Kondele while speaking on Friday said that their lives have been full of fear following the reign of the gangs.
"This gangs have been a headache to us for a long time. It is such a relief to see the police finally doing something about it," said Gregory Ogwel from Kondele.
According to the residents, the gangs make it hard for them to enjoy their day to day lives freely.
"Our businesses in this area are only open during the day; at night, we cant risk our lives in the hands of these gangs because they roam around harassing people", said Ombole Okumu a resident of Obunga.
The residents have faulted the police for taking too long to act given the fact that the criminals have already committed way too many crimes including killing people.
"Where were they for all this time? The police have clearly been sleeping on the job. We however hope that order will finally be restored," said Mary Opanga a resident of Kondele.
They are optimistic that after the visit by the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet in the area, things will change for the better.
