Residents and businesses operators from Maseno want the county government of Kisumu to speed up ongoing road construction works.

They claim some roads in the area are now impassable.

The residents told hivisasa.com that the county government had delayed repairing key roads in the area and that the development had affected transport business.

And now that the El Nino rains are near, the residents said the situation might become worse as transport business will negatively be affected.

“We call upon the county government to speed up the construction of roads as we are suffering losses.  Most of the businesses have been forced to close," Jacob Ogello a shop operator said.

James Matetai who runs a driving school said his business faces challenges because of the poor state of the roads.

“The roads are impassable and my business is ruined," said Matetai.

Attempts by this writer to get comment from the county chief executive for roads and Transport Rana Hanif were futile as his phone was switched off.
