Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders from Nyamira County should desist from persistent wrangles that may disintegrate the party at grassroots by respecting elected leaders, the party’s Secretary General has said.

This comes amid claims that a section of MPs from the region led by West Mugirango MP Dr James Gesami and North Mugirango’s Charles Geni were discontented with the leadership of Kitutu Masaba’s Timothy Bosire, who is the county’s party chairman and National Treasurer.

Speaking at Kenyamware Primary School grounds on Monday when he paid a courtesy call to former MP Abuya Abuya who lost his wife, Ababu Namwamba said the party's supporters should rise above ‘petty’ politics and concentrate on tackling the ruling coalition Jubilee.

He said party's officials were indispensable in revamping the party at grassroots and urged supporters to remain vigil until ODM takes over government.

“Let us respect party officials whether you agree or disagree with them. In fights are not necessary because we have a bigger enemy to focus on. Petty issues should not bring discomfort within the party and it's time to start working and focus on 2017 polls,” he said.

Namwamba urged ODM leaders from the region to settle their ‘minor differences' indoors without necessarily bring them to the public.

“Agreeing and disagreeing is part of democracy and we accept that. But 'minor differences' should not be brought to the public,” he said.

Abuya Abuya was a onetime Kitutu Masaba MP and was among the famous 'seven bearded sisters' that fought for multiparty democracy.
