Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama has been challenged to respond to the alleged poor state of feeder roads in West Mugirango Constituency.
Peter Oire, a politician from the area had written to the county government complaining about the said poor state of roads in the region that has reportedly paralysed transportation activities in the region.
Speaking on Thursday in Kiambere are, Bosamaro ward, Oire lamented that the county government had not responded to the letter.
“Many farmers are unable to transport their farm produce to markets simply because we have poor feeder roads. The governor has failed to give us an answer with regard to the poor state of roads even after writing to him. It is really disappointing that he has continued to ignore our queries,” he said.
Oire threatened to mobilise farmers from the area to demonstrate at the county headquarters if the county government fails to address the matter in a weeks’ time.
“They have a week to address us or we will force them to quit office. We have a right to be served well,” he added.
According to him, the constituency was given a raw deal in 240km roads that are being rehabilitated by the county government.
“I have traversed the entire constituency yet I can’t see any feeder road currently under maintenance. It is possible that only West Mugirango was discriminated by the government. Most of these roads we are complaining of are under the jurisdiction of county government,” he added.
