At least 300 girls from Ruiru Constituency are set to be receiving sanitary towels in a program initiated by Kiambu Women Representative, Ann Nyokabi.
The program will benefit pupils from Kwa Ngethe, Mwiki and Githurai Kimbo primary schools in Ruiru Sub-County.
Presiding over a charity function at Githurai Kimbo church in Ruiru, Nyokabi said that the donation was provided by her and California based Upendo Foundation.
Nyokabi said that she would continue to support pupils from poor back ground to access sanitary towels .
“Most pupils come from poor families which can't afford to buy the sanitary towels. I will continue supporting such children to get the products," she said
The legislator also said that boys would be provided with inner-wear and other clothing in an effort to keep children facing challenges in school.
The legislator further said that she would strive to help women improve their livelihood by providing them with money to start small ventures .
“We are addressing all sections of residents from women to students to see their lives have improved," said Nyokabi.
She said she would continue supporting the ongoing fight against illicit liquor and urged those who have abandoned consumption of illicit liquor to seek rehabilitation at centres which have been launched.
