Young people have been touted to transform the society if they make their priorities right in matters of development and governance.

According to Nakuru deputy governor Joseph Ruto, any society out to make strategic improvements development-wise had to include youths in decision-making to make them feel part of the change.

Speaking at the county headquarters after a group of youth from Kuresoi had paid a courtesy visit to him to discuss development and entrepreneurship, Ruto expressed the county government’s commitment in ensuring that their all-inclusive approach of governance becomes a reality.

“It’s only by allowing all groups of the society feel part of development that the ultimate goals are achieved,” he said adding that in Nakuru, groups that felt sidelined for long had the chance to generate ideas aimed at posting a positive impact in the region.

He noted that women, youths and people with disabilities had the opportunity of being projectors of what they felt the government was performing below par.

“As a government, our doors are always open; we are ready for positive criticism that will improve on our service delivery because our core mandate is to oversee the people live in a safe society full of opportunities,” Ruto said.

He asked young people not to be choosey when it came to taking up available opportunities arguing that on-job experience was key in any profession.

“Being too selective is disastrous because you at times miss out on chances that would have led to getting that dream job,” he advised.

He promised to ensure that all ministries initiated projects that will increase youth involvement making them more self-reliant and be able to sustain themselves.
