Nakuru County Commissioner Mohammed Birik has called on security agents to co-operate and work together so as to fight insecurity in the county.
Speaking in Nakuru town on Friday after chairing a high profile security meeting comprising of all county and sub county police bosses at the Central Police Station, Mr Birik called for proper utilising of technology so as to be up to date with the new innovations being employed by criminals.
“Technology is critical when dealing with crime because the perpetrators have also upped their game becoming more sophisticated in their trade,” he noted.
Birik said the government was committed in offering a safe and more convenient environment which is core for a vibrant and fully operational society that will not only be self-reliant but also contribute to economic growth.
“All measures are in place to ensure that the people of Nakuru operate under a safe environment,” the county commissioner noted.
He said everybody had a responsibility to ensure that the neighbourhood was crime free arguing that security was a collective responsibility.
“Hiding crime is dangerous because by remaining quite about crime within us, the vice takes root in the society making it hard for our security officials to operate,” he added.
Those in attendance included OCPD’s, sub county commissioners and sub county AP commanders across the county.
