Kesses MP James Bett has defended the National Assembly move to slash the Sh1 billion that the Senators had allocated themselves in this financial year's budget.
Bett has said that the Senators must form a law first that is going to govern how the funds are going to be spent instead of crying foul.
The MP who was speaking during a fundraiser in Matharu Catholic Church in Burnt Forest dispelled claims by the senators that the MPs were against the money being allocated to the senators.
"We as the National Assembly have no problem with the Senate getting the Sh1 billion. But what we are saying is that they should establish an Act of Parliament so that from the word go we will know what the money is meant for," said Bett.
He noted that as it is now the money could be prone to misuse as no law stipulates what it will be used for.
"We cannot allow money to just go into people's pockets without knowing what it will be used for. MPs, women and youths have their funds founded on specific acts and so should be that of the senators," he added.
He dismissed claims that the two houses of parliament are still embroiled in supremacy battles with just two years to the next general election.
