All is set for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations at the Naivasha GK prison that begins on Thursday.
Speaking during a prayer session on Monday, the officer in charge, Patrick Mwenda said that the candidates were ready for the examinations having been prepared adequately.
"This year, we have a total of 17 candidates whom we believe have what it takes to perform well after guidance from a very able team," he said.
Mwenda assured of a successful exam period saying that nothing would hinder their candidates from accessing an ample environment.
"This is an examination centre like any other where an exam mood will be provided for the candidates," he said.
On recent concerns over inmates serving death or rather long sentences who beat all odds to achieve exceptional results but go unrewarded, the officer noted that talks were ongoing to ensure such candidates are pardoned and facilitated to realise their academic dreams.
"This is a correction facility and we are considering pardoning good performers who also show positive improvement in behaviour but as a government entity, there are procedures that must be followed," Mwenda said.
