Uasin Gishu County government has set aside ten million shillings for women and youth to start various self-development projects.

This has been announced by the county governor Jackson Mandago who said the funds will help the two groups start businesses and other income generating activities. He said that this will help move the county forward.

“We as the county government are giving you an opportunity to do business with us. Once you are done with this money, we will also be rolling out chicken and fish rearing programmes. We will work closely with you to ensure that we achieve development and growth together,” Mandago said.

Speaking at Moiben on Monday, the governor added that the county government is planning to refurbish the Moiben Agricultural Training Centre to be used by farmers to learn modern farming techniques and practices to enable them increase productivity.

“We have set aside money to modernize the ATC School so as farmers can get somewhere they can learn more about new farming methods. That is going to help them earn good farming revenues,” the governor added.

He revealed too that the county has initiated various rural programmes that will be rolled out soon to help residents better their lives.
