Two women have been jailed for two years each after they were found guilty of selling illicit brew in King'eero Village and its environs.
The two arraigned in a Kikuyu Court on Monday where they were also accused of supplying the liquor.
The two sisters, Nancy Njoki and Grace Matano, are allegedly notorious brewers.
The prosecution told the court, before Chief Magistrate James Ogweno, that the two were arrested on the July 3, 2015 in King'eero Village after police from Kikuyu Police Station and chiefs in the area ambushed the den that the suspects are said to own.
During the raid, the police destroyed 200 litres of illicit brew and the two suspects were arrested in connection to the den.
The two were also in court a year ago over the same allegations but were fined Sh50,000. The prosecution mentioned that despite their previous mitigation vowing never to be involved in the business, the two were arrested over the same.
In their mitigation, Njoki said that their late mother introduced them to the business when they were still in primary school and that that is the only business she knew. She pleaded with the court to be lenient in its judgment.
Matano said that she had a five-year-old baby that relied on her for everything as she was a single mother.
However, Justice Ogweno sentenced them to serve the two years in jail each. The two have 14 days to appeal.
