University students in Kisii have been advised against spending money on luxuries but to rather using available resources to advance their skills and transform their lives.
Speaking to HiviSasa on Sunday, Kisii University Directory of Marketing , Zachary Nyaribo Mose said most of the youth misuse the little money they have in pursuit of fashionable and elusive luxuries. He says they could rather use the extra cash they have on enhancing their skills through enrolling for professional certifications.
"This is the time young people should realise that misusing money can make one useless in the society. One can use some of the extra money to even start a small business," he said.
Nyaribo says university students and other youth yet to join institutions of higher learning have the ability to se themselves through college education if they could invest the extra money they have wisely.
"In Kisii University you can join with 20,000 shillings for a certificate course but most of the youth have not yet joined in the name of lack of money, despite spending much more on luxuries," he added.
He also asked young people who already enrolled in universities to be role models to other youth to motivate them to find ways of continuing with their education.
"I urge the youth to be role models in the community, it is so embarrassing to find a university student being drunk and tell me that he is motivating others," he said.
