A Thika based children's rights group has weighed in on the ongoing disagreement between the government and the Catholic Church over the polio vaccine.

Action For Children in Conflict (AFCIC) Deputy Director Job Kamau has asked the two parties to dialogue and find a middle ground as soon as possible.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday in Thika Town, Kamau noted that a prolonged disagreement between the government and the Catholic Church risks endangering many lives of young children.

"The current state of affairs on polio issue is not pleasing at all. What I would like to ask the government and the church is to sit down together and resolve the matter immediately," said Kamau.

Kamau asked the government to be involving stakeholders early before embarking on such excercises to avoid issues with other concerned parties.

"Polio does not know that we have a disagreement. Let all the parties be consulting early on such matters to avoid unnecessary delays or some parties taking the advantage to misinform the public as it is the case," Kamau said.
