Campaigns in Maseno University have intensified as aspirants gunning for leadership positions began the last stretch of the campaigns.
By Thursday evening, the university's electoral body announced it was ready to conduct the elections as ballot boxes had been delivered.
University Dean of Students Edward Olela told Hivisasa.com in an interview that 100 ballot boxes had been offloaded at the university in readiness for the election.
The university is electing students leaders more than a year after the the exercise was banned following violence that marred it.
Violence erupted at the university in 2014 after some students protested the manner in which the election was done.
They claimed the exercise was marred by irregularities, a development that led to the suspension of the elected student leaders then.
Despite the intensified campaigns however, the institution is yet to announce a date for the election.
Mr Olela promised that elections will be over before October 15.
Aspirants have been visiting the university's Kisumu town and Homa Bay campuses to woo voters.
Walter Mabonga, one of the Guild Presidential aspirants in a telephone interview with Hivisasa.com called on students to maintain peace during the campaigns.
