Twelve Loreto secondary school boys were arraigned before a Nakuru court on Friday for preparing to burn the school.

The minors were accused of allegedly preparing to burn down classes with 5 litres of petrol at Loreto secondary School on September 3 in Nakuru County.

They were found by the police officers in the school dormitory after the police were in informed by the school deputy head teacher who had been tip off by three students.

The minors who included four form four students, six form one students and two form two students.

It’s alleged that the deputy head teacher was informed by three students about the intention of the boys to burn the school at around 9:30pm.

He informed the head teacher who advised him to call the police who later arrived and arrested them and took them to Bondeni police station. The 5 litres of petrol was recovered hidden in the field under the grass.

Represented by lawyer one Gatonye, he told the court that the school administration intends to withdraw the case in order to settle it outside the court.

Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate Omido, they pleaded not guilty and they were released on Sh5,000 cash bail

The court ordered the students whom their parents were not present to raise the cash bail be remanded at Juvenile children’s home.
