Eldoret's Langas Estate residents woke up to a Saturday morning of horrible remains of a young man burnt beyond recognition.

The man who met his demise near Kisumu Ndogo centre is said to have been part of a five-man-gang that has been terrorising Langas Estate residents in the previous weeks.

The young man is said to have been burnt on the previous night at around 1am when their attempt to steal from one of the households in the estate backfired.

The gang had launched an attack on one household before the occupants of the house raised alarm. On raising the alarm, the thugs tried to silence them, but it was already too late as the neighbours had already heard the screams and yells for help.

The other four are said to have managed to escape with the owner of the house holding onto the victim. Neighbours answered to the screams only to find the thief having stabbed the owner of the house on the arm using a knife and had managed to free himself from his grip.

Members of the public who had heeded to the call descended on him with blows and machetes before setting him ablaze.

Speaking to Journalists on Saturday, the mob who were still angry said that the punishment served the suspect right as they have been terrorising members of Kisumu Ndogo in Langas for quite some time.

“We are tired of informing the police and then soon we see the thieves roaming the estate. This should serve as a warning to the rest," said the mob, in unison.

The onlookers who claimed to know the thug said he was often seen idling in Kambi ya Nguruwe Centre in Langas.

The remains of the body were picked up by officers from Langas Police Post.
