The Thika OCPD Erastus Muthamia confirmed that most of the ladies who frequent bars in the area were con ladies. He confirmed that they frequent the bars in the evenings with an ill motive of coning their prey who consist mostly of men by lacing their drinks.
According to Muthamia, in the last two weeks, there has been approximately 17 cases reported in Thika police station by victims of the unfortunate incidents.
"The con ladies target male patrons who they think have money and sit near them. They eventually end up stealing from them and disappearing," he said.
He said this on Saturday during a raid over illicit brews in the area.
"They lace the drinks with unknown chemicals in readiness to take valuables like phones and money from the
men who are left in stupor state. We have received over 17 cases so far and our officers are on the ground investigating the issue," he added.
The OCPD also said that other ladies go ahead and spend the night with their newly found ‘lovers’ but disappear before the end of the night with the looted goods.
He revealed that there were two secondary school teachers who fell victims last week that choose to remain anonymous as the police continue investigating.
