A crackdown targeting suspected criminals in Gesima ward in Nyamira County has gone down successfully after two men were arrested in possession of two pistols and several ammunitions, Riamoni chief has said.

This comes after a series of unprecedented attacks targeting businessmen in the region with a number of business people reportedly losing thousands of shillings to the robbers.

Speaking to Hivisasa.com on Wednesday after spearheading the crackdown, chief Francis Rasugu hailed residents for being in control by giving the administration a crucial tip-off that led to the arrests.

“This is a major victory against insecurity and I would like to sincerely thank residents for working closely with us. They have antagonised innocent people and time has come for them to reap what they planted. They will be arraigned in court to answer several charges including murder,” he said.

The veteran administrator promised that the crackdown was likely to continue in a bid to arrest the whole network that residents suspect to be of around eight.

“The group is more than the two we have arrested and we will not stop till all of them are brought to book. Those willing to surrender should do so before we catch up with them,” he said.

It was not immediately established the identity of the suspects since they were said to be lacking crucial identification documents and they were taken to Kisii Police station for more interrogation.
