The hearing of a case where a woman is accused of killing her 13-year-old son kicked off on Wednesday before the High Court in Nakuru.
Grace Wangui who is facing murder charges is accused of killing her son, Waithaka Wamboi, on March 27, at Mau Narok in Njoro Sub-County.
Ann Wanjiku, an elder sister to the accused, in her testimony told the court that she received a phone call from her brother Peter Kuria, that her sister’s son had died and went immediately to Wangui's home.
“I received a phone call from my brother on that day and he told me that Wangui’s son was dead. I rushed to Mau Narok where she stays and we began the preparations for the burial,” she said.
She also told the court that the burial preparations could not go through as planned after police required a postmortem examination be done on the body to determine the cause of death before burial.
Grace Wangui was arrested on March 29. She was charged on May 21 and she pleaded not guilty where she was released on a title deed which she placed as a bond.
Wangui through her defence lawyer told the court that the postmortem report indicated that the boy died of pneumonia.
The prosecution have four more witnesses to testify. The case will be heard next on December 7.
