Tala chief Albert Kioko has warned criminals in the area to shun their activities before they are apprehended.

Speaking to a public baraza in Tala to deliberate on ways to strengthen community policing, the chief lamented over the increased insecurity in the area saying criminals in the area will be dealt with according to the law.

He said the nyumba kumi initiative has not yet taken root in the area while other regions are enjoying the fruits of the initiative.

He said the clusters have been dormant since they were introduced and people care less about their neighbours or even what is happening to the hood.

He cited an incident where a man murdered his wife even though the neighbours knew he was violent but never reported the matter to the authorities.

The chief said it will be easy to deal with minor problems which arise in the neighbourhood and stop them from spreading further.

He said residents should cooperate with the security agencies to ensure the community policy strategies work.

“We must strive to know what is happening at our neighbour’s home and also let us try our best to cooperate with the security agencies in this area to secure ourselves and our children,” the chief said.
