An 18- year-old boy was arraigned before Kibera court charged with attempted rape of a six-year-old girl in Gatwekera area of Kibera.
Geoffrey Olum is alleged to have tried to rape a standard one pupil in Kibera while she was heading to the toilet at around 9 pm.
He is said to have grabbed the young girl and touched her private parts while visiting the toilet on Sunday October 4, 2015.
The prosecution said that it was the girls' screaming that alerted two neighbours whose houses were near the toilet. They came out in quick response and caught the accused trying to escape.
He was then taken to Kilimani Police Station for questioning and booked for the offence.
The victim was later taken to a clinic for further screening. The medical report presented to court young girl's genitals were found unharmed.
The prosecutor urged the court not to grant the accused bond as he appeared to be a flight risk.
Olum later on tried to plead for mercy from the Magistrate claiming it was a first time offence and pleaded to be granted bail. He was denied bail.
The case will resume hearing on November 18, 2015.
