At least 10 residents of Ndumberi and Tinganga Locations, Kiambu County are nursing serious injuries after gangsters attacked them.
Confirming the incidence, Ndumberi Chief Grace Nduta said the attack took the residents unexpectedly. He urged residents to provide information to help in arresting the suspects.
“We have enhanced the security in the whole of Ndumberi and Ting’ang’a and the criminal activity was an exceptional one,” said Nduta.
The chief said she has notified Kiambu OCPD of the attack and said police have launched investigations to arrest the culprits.
The chief urged the residents to strengthen Nyumba Kumi initiative to flush out criminals among them.
“I know insiders are colluding with gangsters to terrorise innocent residents and I urge residents to give more interest to Nyumba Kumi to bring down the rate of crime,” said Nduta.
The residents said that incidence occurred at 3am when the gangster struck.
“The gangsters came with machetes attacking anyone they met and injured 10 residents,” said Peter Kariuki, a local resident.
The residents are now calling for enhanced security and urged the provincial administration and police to protect them.
The injured residents were taken to a private hospital where they were treated and discharged.
