The Kiambu county draft Financial act 2015/16 public participation was on Monday foiled in Thika while that of Juja went on peacefully and successfully.
The residents of five Thika wards arrived in the Thika community hall at around 8:0 am ready for the process of giving their views for amendments and the sub-county, ward and revenue officers arriving at 9:00am.
The challenges started when the administrators brought the draft bill to the public and they noticed that it was a repeat of the last two years bills which has each time been rejected ending up in court and for the county government to be bared from charging the public using them.
The residents demanded an immediate explanation of why they were being fooled around by the officials by bringing the last years with no fees reduced as announced causing them to panic and lack proper explanation.
The irate public stormed the tables where the officials had sited and frog-matched them to the sub-county offices and outside the governor’s offices where they were sent to the county boss to get the new draft bill and return it on Thursday for a similar meeting.
Meanwhile in Juja sub-county’s meeting held in Fountain of life church hall, the residents conducted their event calmly and made proper utterances giving the admins an easy job of controlling.
An attempt by a JKUAT Lecturer who alleged to be a resident of Kiambu to foil the meeting was thwarted by the Kiambu county residents after the county askaris who had highly guarded the area chased him away.
Thika people have vowed to reject the bill come Thursday if there is no change even after intervention by the area MCA Mwangi Wamwangi.
