Three people were on Tuesday injured after a group of bodaboda riders were attacked at Matuu market.

The attackers, said to be residents of Matuu attacked the riders after accusing the bodaboda men of abating crime.

The residents said the riders, some of whom work late into the night collude with criminals to terrorise them.

"They conduct their businesses late into the night and if you happen to arrive at late hours they attack you," Simon Kakemu, a resident said.

"We cannot stand this anyone. Insecurity is on the rise and we are worried it might deteriorate more."

Matuu Administration Police Inspector Linus Ipara however, calmed the residents and assured them of security.

"We are setting up strategies to ensure we solve this problem," Ipara said.

"We will ensure we act with speed and arrest those involved in crime."

He faulted members of the public for failing to provide information about suspected criminals.

Those were taken to the Matuu Level Four Hospital.
