Residents of Ndarugo in Juja Sub-County on Friday woke up in shock after the body of a middle-aged man was found dumped near the Juja quarry.
The mutilated body with signs of deep cuts on the chest and arms, was discovered by one of the workers at the quarry.
He alerted his colleagues who later informed the Witeithie Assistant Chief, James Nyoike.
The administrator then alerted the police who identified the man as a matatu tout on the busy Nairobi-Thika Super Highway.
Juja OCS, Luke Odiwour said the deceased could have been murdered elsewhere and his body dumped at the site.
He added that the man had recorded a statement at Juja Police Station on Wednesday alleging that his life was in danger.
He said the deceased had informed them that some people had been following him every evening on his way home from work.
Odiwour said they have launched investigations into the incident, and assured the residents that he will ensure the culprits are brought to book.
The residents are now appealing for heightened security in the area to stem the rising cases of crime.
The body was taken to the Thika General Kago Mortuary.
