The county government of Machakos has been asked to complete the construction of roads around markets to ease trade and congestion.
Speaking in Tala market on Wednesday, market Chairperson Annah Katile Kyalo said projects like the William Ngea Road should be completed to ease transport in Tala.
She said completion of the road will offer relief to traders who ferry goods from outside the market.
"Traders who used to operate along William Ngea Road were asked to move to the heart of the market for the road to be constructed," she said in an interview.
"Road works have however delayed and this has affected business."
She asked the county government to unblock drainage tunnels in the Tala to ease water flow before the El Nino rains begin.
She also urged the county government to construct public toilets in the market.
