Two compact disc (CD) retailers in Kisii town were early Friday arrested , for allegedly selling explicit pornography content to students in the area.
According to County Council officer in Charge Douglas Areba, they spotted the hawker testing the cd at his business premises and arrested him on the spot.
He also added that the county government had banned any kind of trading in such content, and their licenses did not permit the hawker to operate from the area.
“We are sending a warning to any other hawker in the town who is selling such explicit cds to young school-going children, and we will take our search to higher levels to make sure such businessmen are not allowed to carry out their business in the town,” said Areba.
The two, who were identified as Patrick Oino and Albert oyunge were taken to Kisii central police station awaiting to be arraigned in court.
The county government together with the Kenya Film Commission Board had last year warned against operating in such business in the town, saying it was against the law.
