Two young men were on Thursday arraigned in a Kikuyu court for stealing from a church in Kabete.
Raymond Ndutu and Daniel Chege appeared before chief magistrate James Ogweno to answer to charges of breaking into the church at night and stealing two amplifiers and four microphones.
The prosecution told the court that the two who are cart pullers in the area used a mkokoteni to transport the stolen goods.
The prosecution further said that the two were mostly hired by the church to transport electronics to the locations where regular crusades were being held.
On August 24, Bishop Francis Kinuthia found the church broken into and the items missing. He reported the matter to Kabete police station where investigations were launched.
The two were arrested on Wednesday evening after a church member informed the police of the alleged whereabouts of the lost items.
Police say they conducted a quick search and found one microphone in Ndutu's house who led them to Chege's house where the other items were recovered. They were taken to Kabete police station.
The two pleaded innocent and were released on a cash bail of Sh50,000 each or a surety of a similar amount.
The case will be heard on September 10.
