Two Kisumu men who allegedly robbed a family of cash and valuables worth over Sh60, 000 were on Friday remanded in custody to July 18.
Roderick Otwoma and Jonathan Kimutai were arrested on May 30 after they were, allegedly, linked to the robbery that occurred in Milimani.
Appearing before Kisumu Chief Magistrate Esther Maina, they both denied both charges.
The prosecution alleged that on May 13, 2014, the two with their three alleged accomplices who are still at large, approached Stephen Otieno at his Milimani home. They were allegedly armed with machetes, pepper spray and a gun.
The suspects are said to have scaled the premise wall and got into the house through an unlocked kitchen door where they found Otieno’s wife preparing supper.
The court heard that they threatened her with death and force-marched her into the sitting room where they also threatened her husband while demanding cash.
They allegedly stole a neck chain and ring from the wife before assaulting the woman until her husband surrendered Sh40,000 which he kept in the refrigerator.
It is further alleged that they stole the complainants Sony Ericson mobile phone before force-marching the couple into the bedroom and locking them up.
The duo then allegedly stormed out of the house and used a car which was parked outside to escape.
The case resumes on July 18.
