Uasin Gishu County government will establish 18 new health centres and a paediatric hospital to boost medical services in the county.

Speaking in his office on Wednesday Uasin Gishu County Director of Health Silas Boit said the move is aimed at easing congestion in the major health facilities. This will also bring closer to the people health services thus reducing the distance travelled and the cost used.

"This is meant to improve services in in the health sector. The county government is in the process of hiring 362 health workers who will man the newly established health centres to enhance efficiency in service delivery," he said.

He reiterated that the health department will pay a uniform allowance of Sh10,000 to nurses as required by the law this financial year.

He urged wananchi to be vigilant and report any nurse who is not on duty and deficiency in drug supply in the health facilities.
