Speaking during the launch of Health Ministry 2013-2018 strategic plan on Thursday, Mandago said that many parents are struggling to provide basic needs for their families due to poor family planning.

"Despite the fact that the national government has made it free to deliver in hospitals, it does not mean that you give birth to several children. I don't mean that you stop giving birth," he said.

He urged women to ensure that they deliver in hospitals to reduce child mortality rate that has recently risen due to women giving birth at home without proper care.

"Many cases of child mortality are caused by giving birth at home due to complications that cannot be handled by midwives at home," he added.
