Uasin Gishu government is adequately prepared for the El Nino rains that are predicted to fall in few weeks time.
Deputy Governor Daniel Chemno said this on Tuesday adding that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure residents are safe and no life or property is lost.
"We have set aside Sh200 million for the preparedness and we are talking to donors to fund on the same for us to be fully prepared for the rains," he said.
He assured residents that the county government has put up mechanisms to ensure that all drainage systems in urban areas are unclogged.
Chemno revealed that they have also embarked on constructing more drainage facilities to ensure that there is a smooth flow of water to avoid over flooding.
"I urge the national government to use part of the Sh5 billion El Nino preparedness fund in buying driers for farmers since they will really run losses since the national government through the ministry of agriculture livestock and fisheries advised them to harvest their crops early," he added.
