Three people were on Wednesday arraigned before a Kisumu court to face charges of allegedly stealing uniforms from a school bus during a sporting event.

The three Sylvia Ayiro, Joseph Evayo and Dishon Omolo denied the allegations before Kisumu Chief Magistrate Lucy Gitari for the offence allegedly committed on May 30, 2015.

This was the third time the accused were arraigned in court; during the previous court appearance, they urged that they were not ready for the case.

They have been out on a cash bail of Sh5,000 each with surety of a similar amount. Circumstances into the case according to the Prosecution Desk are that on the material day, the accused entered the premises of Okuyo Secondary School in Kisumu County as spectators of a school tournament.

When the sporting events were still going on, the three are accused to have secretly gained access to a bus ferrying Pangala Boys Secondary School students and allegedly stole 20 pairs of uniforms entailing trousers and shirts.

Upon discovering that the uniforms were missing the teacher in charge reported the matter to police who were at the scene who immediately launched investigation which led to the accused.

Evayo was arrested two days later at Muhoroni Market trying to sell the clothes. Upon interrogation he managed to name the other two accomplices which led to their arrest.

The case will be continued on August 28, 2015 while the accused will be out on bail terms given earlier.
