Higher learning institutions have been urged to embrace ICT and E-learning to reduce the increasing congestion and strain on physical facilities.
Speaking in her office on Monday, Moi University Chancellor Prof Miriam Were said the use of ICT and E-learning enhances more access to education with greater convenience.
“For our country to achieve vision 2030 Innovation, E-learning and ICT should be given the first priority that will enhance reduction of the poverty level thus education will be affordable and accessible to all,” she said.
She revealed that, the university was working on exchange programs with the Institute of Democracy in America that would pave way for the launching of a masters program around the discipline at the University.
“I urge the National and the county governments to work together in ensuring that the constituent colleges they open are up to the required standards to avoid wasting parents' resources,” she added.
She challenged students to put into practice what they have been taught to transform the country and embrace entrepreneurship to become job creators rather than not seekers.
“Universities should not only focus on being the best in offering quality education in the county or nation level but should focus on being the best world wide by planting constituent institution in every part of the world” Prof Were said.
