University students in Nyamira County have been asked to use their long holidays wisely by voluntarily taking up teaching roles in local schools.

Matutu PAG Secondary School Principal Charles Osoro said his students’ academic performance had improved following the launch of the motivation programme which engages varsity students from the area to motivate and even teach academic subjects at the institution on a voluntary basis.

“This is the time we need to work with university students as one way of motivating our students to take their studies seriously,” added the school headteacher.

According to the principal, the programme has brought about a positive change on his students who now believe they too can make it in their studies.

He urged more varsity students to volunteer in the programme.
