Mount Kenya University has procured a one-of-a-kind bus worth Sh15 million which is a moving ICT hub.

The bus is fitted with Wi-Fi and other technological gadgets to assist students their academics even while on the move.

Speaking on Thursday at the university’s main campus in Thika during the reception of the bus, Mount Kenya University Students Association leader Kimani Kamau applauded the administration for the move which he said will relieve the students of the challenges experienced in conducting research and other academic works while on the move.

“We are happy for the support given to our students by the university. We can now comfortably do our assignments. We are the first university to have such a bus and we are looking forward to having at least one such bus in every campus,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist (KMPD) board officials who had also toured the university to assess the quality of education and innovation at the university lauded the institution for its steps in a bid to provide quality education to its students.

“We are very pleased to see the huge steps that the institution has made which have benchmarked the quality of education among institutions of higher learning. I would like to urge other institutions to invest more on embracing the new technology and strive to provide the best quality education to its students,” KMPD board chairman George Magogha said.
