A woman was on Wednesday ordered to work at the Nakuru Law Courts for a day after pleading guilty to verbally assaulting a neighbour.

Esther Moraa was accused of verbally creating disturbances after she insulted Lucy Njoka on August 10 at Mawanga Estate in Nakuru.

She was arrested on August 12, and taken to the Teachers Police Post where she was held.

Moraa pleaded guilty before Chief Magistrate Doreen Mulekyo and told the court that she was overly emotional and pleaded for forgiveness.

"I am sorry for having have done that and I beg that the court forgives me," she said.

Njoka, the complainant, was present before the court with the intention of withdrawing the charges against Moraa but she did not have her national identity card. She was not allowed to drop the case.

"How can we know its exactly you?" the magistrate asked Njoka before giving her verdict.

Moraa was told by the court to choose between working at the law courts for a day or wait until Friday when the complainant brings her identification.
