Wamuyu residents in Mwala constituency have petitioned the area MP to push for repair of roads in the ward which they say are in pathetic condition.
The residents say most roads connecting the village to Mwala Town are impassable.
The residents noted that their activities are being hindered by the dusty and bumpy roads.
The residents cited the Wamuyu- Mwala- Machakos road which they say is dusty and needs urgent repair.
Speaking on Thursday in Wamuyu, John Mwilu, an elder in the ward said most roads in the area are dusty and have seen several residents develop airborne diseases due to the dust.
He asked the county government to inspect the roads and commission repairs.
“The Machakos government must take responsibility and immediately repair our roads,” he said.
The elder asked area MP Vincent Musyoka to present their concerns to the county Governor Alfred Mutua.
The elder claimed the roads in the neighbouring sub-counties have being repaired while those in the area have been neglected.
Mwilu said poor roads are negatively impacting on their development and renovation of the roads will help the area register tremendous economic growth.
When reached for comment, area MP Vincent Musyoka assured residents that the roads will be repaired.
He said the county government has promised to have all the roads repaired by end of August this year.
