Residents of Gilgil have welcomed the launch of a new water project expected to provide more than 1000 residents with clean and safe water
The launching of Dibai Water Community project was officiated by the Senator Martha Wangari on Wednesday.
The water project is expected to serve Dibai Schools and Olsultan Primary and the community.
Speaking during the launch of the project Wangari emphasized the need to offer clean water for the residents.
She noted that the location of the water project was as both schools have a strategic plan to start horticultural farming that in turn will generate income for the residents
"Water has been a huge challenge to us as residents of Elementaita Ward. We hope that this will help in ensuring that the children are no longer forced to walk for long distances to look for water. It will also improve the infrastructure of the area," she cited
Wangari also expressed her intention to expand the project from Nyarienda to Tangi Tano, Kiptangwany and Kongasis centers.
