A woman was on Friday arraigned before a Nakuru court and charged with receiving Sh700,000 from another woman in the pretext she would sell her a plot in Nakuru town.

Mary Wamaitha, 36, appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Elisha Gicheha and denied the charges. She was released on a Sh150,000 bond with a surety of similar amount.

The charge sheet stated that on July 19, 2015 at Nakuru Town Mary Wamaitha received Sh700,000 from Loise Chelagat pretending that she was in a position to sell her a plot.

The prosecution lined two witnesses who testified before the court and confirmed that they witnessed the accused receiving the money.

However the accused denied the charges and maintained her innocence claiming she was framed up following a business dispute between them.

The hearing was set for 28 September, 2015.
