Two women on Wednesday pleaded guilty before a Nakuru court for selling illicit liquor.

Teresia Wangui was found with two litres of changaa while Mirriam Wanjiru is alleged to have been found in her possession 140 litres of 'mti ni dawa', both on August 4 at Ahero village in Njoro sub-county.

They both faced charges of selling the brew with out a valid license of 2015. According to police, Wairimu brewed and sold to people within the village, its only during the illicit brew crackdown that police have been undertaking.

The police managed to allocated brew with the help of members of the public. Appearing before Senior Principle Magistrate, Liz Gicheha, she pleaded guilty and prayed for forgiveness from the court.

"I have children that I am raising and I didnt have any other business, I pray that the court forgives me and I will not repeat it," she pleaded

State prosecutor, Hillary Songoyo urge the court that she be treated as first offender because she has no previous records.

Wangoi was fined Sh 10,000 or face two months in jail while Wanjiru was fined Sh 120,000 or face a year in jail.
