Former Non Governmental Organisation executive Dr Hezron Makobewa has called on women under the umbrella body of Maendeleo Ya Wanawake in Kisumu County to remain steadfast in championing development in the county.

Makobewa said women have the power to change the world and their unity always remains their strength.

He said women must take a leading role in the county to ensure proper service delivery.

“I expect women to demand for proper medical facilities and other services from the county government. Women have numbers and will not fail for a course they intend to pursue,” he said.

Mr Makobewa said women are the custodian of families and promised to partner with women in the county for a successful society.

Speaking on Friday during a funds drive for Kisumu Maendeleo Ya Wanawake, Mr Makobewa said any leadership must incorporate women.

“Any leadership without women at its apex is doomed to fail. Women have ideas and strengths to push for an agenda that is beneficial to the community,” he said.

He told women not to lag behind but use their numbers in their organisations to bargain for better services.

Mr Makobewa said women are prone to challenges that must be fixed but with their involvement.

He noted that lack of proper medication in hospitals is one among many challenges faced by women especially during pregnancy.
