Youths from Nyamira County can now breathe a sigh of relief after a leading NGO confirmed its readiness to fund the operations of the Nyamira Bunge Youth League.

This comes after negotiations by the league’s president, Justus Maeche, months after World Vision confirmed its withdrawal from supporting the youths from the region after the previous leadership was accused of financial impropriety and misappropriation.

Speaking to Hivisasa.com on Thursday, Mr Maeche said the NGO had agreed to withdraw the sanctions but promised an in-depth investigation to Sh250,000 that remained unaccounted for.

“We have been having intensive investigations with the main offices and at last I want to report that we will be signing an agreement on Friday in Nairobi. However, that doesn’t mean that those who mismanaged the funds in question will go scot free. The investigations are ongoing and a stiff action will be taken against those found culpable,” he said.

He said the first major project of the Youth Bunge will be launching a series of farming activities among several youths in the county besides being in the front line to advocate for open governance in the county and fight against corruption.

“We are set to launch various farming activities among the youth in our county for registered youth groups only. Further, we will remain focused in fighting for open governance that is void of corruption because that is our core objective,” he added.

The youths will hold a grand meeting on Saturday at Gesima market after the expected historic signing with World Vision that will see more than Sh4 million pumped into the group for development.
