Youths in Kibera have been urged to shun drugs and other unwanted behaviours.

Speaking during a Christain outreach organised by Youngsters for Christ (YCT) at Kamkunji on Sunday evening, Pastor Sammy Njiru called on the youths to behave well for a peaceful Kibera.

“The organisation has more than 3,000 youths and usually conducts counseling lessons to youths mainly in Kibera, giving them room to network,” said pastor Njiru.

The YCT team comprises reformed youths who are taught on pastoring, evangelism and other church ministries.

Being interdenominational, YCT has helped youths from different regions to reform and shun illicit behaviours.

The outreach was attended by youths and children from different churches across the country. They called on other youths to reform.

Ten-year-old drummist, Lenny Otieno, said the group has helped him hone his skills and intends to join a musical band in Nairobi.

Another pastor, Peter Frank, said YCT has helped him shun bad company which which lured him into crime due to peer pressure.

“Most of my friends are now at Kamiti Maximum Prison but God saved me. I thank Him,” said Frank who now pastors a church in Thika.

On her part, Winnie Matete said by joining YCT, her musical career has improved since she attends voice training.

She said she has mastered different musical voices.
