Uasin Gishu’s Ziwa Ward Representative Hillary Keter has challenged youths in the ward to not only apply for funds but also to do business with the government.
Speaking to youths at Ziwa shopping center on Sunday, the MCA told youths to take advantage of the funds and start business ventures of their choice.
Keter said that youths will benefit if they seek the development funds being given out by both the county and the national government.
“I want to encourage young people within this Ward to come out and apply for the Uwezo Fund and start business of their choice ,” he said.
The MCA said that many youth in some wards across the county had already benefited from the fund.
He also encouraged youths, women and persons with disabilities to apply for state tenders and do business with the government. He lauded the government move to set aside 30 percent of tenders to marginalised groups saying that it will help curb unemployment.
The MCA at the same time called on the Uasin Gishu county government to start more empowerment programs for the marginalised groups in the county.
