Thika police officers have arrested 13 under age youth, 8 boys and 5 girls, dancing and engaging in a drinking spree in one of the alleged striper clubs in Thika town.
Thika sub-county administrator Mariam Chemoso accompanied by the Thika OCS among other security personnel stormed the club and arrested the youths together with 3 staff members who are said to have sold the beer to the kids.
Following the incident, Thika sub-county commissioner Jeremiah Gicheru has ordered an immediate closure of two famous stripper clubs in the town and issued a stern warning to those operating the clubs.
Gicheru said that Zinc Club and Club legends both in Thika CBD have been operating up to late hours and even contravening the Kiambu Alcoholic and Beverages Act 2015 and the police have been investigating on the same to get enough evidence.
The DCC said that such clubs have been encouraging illegal businesses in the town and should be seized completely mostly during the festive season where the youth indulge into drugs and immorality.
“Thika is known for these illegal businesses and we have been cautioning the owners of these clubs but the denied having allowed such activities in their businesses,” He said.
He further called upon parents whose children have been involved in the scam to take good care of them saying that if they talk to them and offer them advise, they will not be involved in such businesses in the future.
The sub-county commissioner warned bar owners who promote stripping in order to boost sales that their days are numbered and would soon face the full wrath of the law.
He added that law enforcement officers will remain vigilant and conduct raids in such clubs to ensure no one is involved in such acts again ordering the closure of the three famous ones in the town.
The officer has also told the owners that he will push for the revoking of their club’s licenses.
Meanwhile the youths have been held in Thika police station and will be released only if their parents turn out.
