According to the area Nyumba Kumi chairperson Jonah Muriithi, the thugs had a well-coordinated plan as they committed the heinous crimes in a matter of minutes before villagers could group and stop them.

"The thugs attacked immediately after midnight and before we could answer the victims call for help, the thugs had vanished," said Muriithi.

The crime was reported at Ruiru police station and girls rushed to Ruiru sub-district hospital where they were later discharged.

Residents blame the police for laxity as crime rate in the area has been on the rise.

On Friday night, Julius Kariuki was robbed of his phone as he entered his homestead.

"In this area, the roads are empty by 8 pm due to increased insecurity. I was attacked just before 9pm by a group of youths as I entered my home from work," he said.

Ruiru OCPD Isaac Thuranira said that they are still pursuing the thugs and that the residents should provide any information that can lead to the arrest of the criminals and recovery of the stolen animals.

"These thugs do not come from far, they live among you and you know them. Name them and you will help us protect you and your properties," Thuranira told residents.
