At least fifty schools from Kitutu Masaba constituency have received paints to boost their renovation.

Mr Charles Mochama who launched his program of donating paints to schools that were in need Monday said the exercise is set to benefit at least fifty schools that have been identified by his team across the constituency.

He said the exercise will extend to other constituencies across the county (Borabu, West Mugirango and North Mugirango) after the completion of the first phase.

“There are a number of schools that have remained in a bad shape for years and as a leader, I decided to donate paints so that we renovate them properly. My team has identified at least 50 schools from Kitutu Masaba and once we are through with the exercise, we are visiting the remaining three constituencies,” he said.

He defended his program saying it will ‘significantly contribute to magnificent performances’ and downplaying a question from one of the reporters on the magnitude of the project.

“I tend to disagree with you (a question from a local journalist) that it’s not a worthwhile project. Even the physical appearance of an institution significantly contributes to good performances. A physically appealing institution increases the morale among children when they are studying,” he said.

He urged the national government to consider repairing a number of institutions from the county which were reportedly in deplorable conditions making learning difficult.

“We are aware of schools that are in shocking conditions. Some of them have dealt with the problem of leaking roofs for years and this is the time the national government embarked on the process of renovating those institutions because it has the records,” he said.

He said his program will see more schools receive the paints (of undisclosed price) in next six months with Kitutu Masaba constituency selected schools expected to be concluded by January 2016.
